First view of Moorea in the early morning.
Just arrived into Opunohu Bay.
Tendering starts.
The first stop on our 4x4 excursion was a prominent hill overlooking Opunohu Bay.
Looking west along the coast.
Seating in the back of the 4x4 (Land Rover Defender). They climb amazingly well.
Belvedere Lookout (Tahitian Princess visible in the distance).
Ancient marae used for religious worship. This one was reconstructed.
Fellow cruisers Craig and Melanie with world renowned, marine biologist Michael Poole. He counted 45 dolphins, including a youngster, during our excursion. http://www.drmichaelpoole.com/bio.htm
The dolphins frequent a pass on the southwest side of the island. Boat is headed back into the lagoon here.
Headed back through the pass to the open ocean.
Markers have been placed in the lagoon to provide a navigable path for small craft.
Probably one of our best views of the whole trip. From Tahitian Princess leaving Moorea.
Sunset as we crossed the few miles from Moorea to Tahiti.
On the return from Maupiti, the plane went right over Moorea. Whether on the water or in a plane above, the colors seem just unreal.
